What are the rules about sickness pay? Will I be paid if I fall sick? How will it affect my salary if I am absent due to sickness? Are there any paid leaves offered?
The college has a lenient absence from work policy, allowing the employees to benefit from it. If the staff member can maintain a satisfactory attendance record, the college trusts them regarding their absence, short term or long term. Either it is a sickness absence or casual leaves, the staff member has to inform the college administration beforehand (excluding sickness absence). Once the employee is back from the leaves, they have to undergo a return to work interview.
Either you are a new employee or an old one, everyone reserves a right to get paid leaves. The structure of the Contractual Sick Pay scheme is as follows:
- Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) is offered to employees with 0-3 month’s service
- 2 weeks full 2 weeks half payment is offered to employees with 3 months to 1 years’ service
- 8 weeks payment in half is offered to employees with 1-3 years’ service
- 12 weeks payment in half is offered to employees with 3-5 years’ service
26 weeks plus 26 weeks half payment is offered to employees with over 10 years in service
